Forever Young

One aspect of my job that I love the most is working with an array of people. I’ve gotten to know many of them on a deeper, more personal level. That being said, I’ve noticed major differences in those who appear to be a lot younger than they are and those who appear to be older.

You see, it’s true what they say… Age really is such a mindset. Yes, we’ve created this concept of time— years, months, days, etc., but it doesn’t affect everyone in the same way. In fact, some people seem to be totally immune to it. Why is that?

These aren’t people who have been obsessed with having the perfect diet, exercise routine, sleep score, and everything else we’re taught to hyper-fixate on. They aren’t the ones who’ve had memberships to the most expensive gyms, access to the best equipment, or worked with sought-after nutritionists.

Rather, they are the people who have made these two rules the most consistent parts of their lives.

They never stop moving, and they always remain curious.

One takes care of the body, the other takes care of the mind. Both are essential, and both make a massive difference in how affected they are by aging.

Research shows that as we age, our daily habits and choices become much more important.

Choose to sit all day and watch TV? Your physical abilities will decline quickly— especially once you reach age 70+. Think you’ve learned it all? Want to sit and scroll online all day? You may not notice it, but there will be cognitive decline.

The people who remain vivacious, strong, vibrant, and energized? Those are the ones who move a little each day and are always willing to learn. Curiosity will keep you young.

This routine looks different at 40 than it did at 20. It looks different at 70 than it did at 50. That’s OK! It should! Goals change as age becomes more of a factor. Two things remain the same— muscle mass and mindset will always be of the utmost importance.

If you continue to enjoy life while staying consistent in these two areas, I can guarantee that you’ll be one of the people that others can’t believe is so young for their age!
